Despite being a teenage school boy, Devesh Gurung, born and raised in Texas by his first-generation immigrant parents Mr. Dhiren Gurung and Ms. Samita Ghale, has a giving heart. As a result of his noble service heart, on 15th of September 2020, the Mayor of Frisco Mr. Jeff Cheney, during Frisco City Council meeting session, set aside time for Devesh to recognize him for his attainment of Eagle rank and demonstrating an outstanding service and leadership to the City of Frisco. On top of that, at the end of 2019 and beginning of 2020, Devesh was recognized as an Outstanding Youth Award by two big Nepalese organizations in the US, United Nepalese Association (UNA) and Nepalese Society of Texas (NST) respectively.
Devesh always makes his parents proud and his father, Mr. Dhiren Gurung, proudly recalls, “We are all proud of Devesh. What he really impresses me, is the way he is managing his valuable time between school, sports, scouting, and goofing around with his friends. Academically he is very strong, and with participation in different team sports like swimming in Colony Penguin, basketball and Football in Pearson Middle school during Middle School years and Football at the end with Reedy high school during High School years, simply adds an icing in the cake to make him a true all rounded individual. However, the most importantly, the way he has grown and to become a young individual with a true service heart has meant a lot to us. All the Nepali salute this boy for making his root country known to the globe and wish the best for his endless effort in the days ahead.
